Editing for a Kinder Academic Culture
Academic labor is both increasingly flexible and increasingly demanding. Our academic calendar ebbs and flows, our deadlines don't always fall between 9 to 5, Monday through Friday, and we juggle work obligations around our real lives: our kids, our partners, and our families. I offer editorial services for fellow academics to support a more understanding and compassionate academic community.
Dr. Michael Mario is a gifted and precise editor. He takes the time to understand exactly what it is you are trying to say and comes up with a better of way of saying it. By using him as an editor, I have become a stronger writer with more active prose and precision language. I cannot recommend him highly enough!

Dr. Michael Mario has been of immense help in a number of my articles and sections of my recent book project. He is able to point out technical issues that improve the efficiency and flow of writing, but also larger theoretical and conceptual tensions that contribute to the intellectual ambitions of the work. I highly recommend working with him.

I have had the great opportunity to work with Dr. Michael Mario for many years and most recently on a book manuscript. Mike is well-versed in a variety of interdisciplinary fields and offers wonderful suggestions for both expansion and depth. Mike also possess a superb command of syntax and grammar, allowing him to be an asset at any stage of the writing process and is also available for virtual meetings. In my experiences working with Mike, I never feel pressure or criticism, but instead am motivated because he continually champions my projects.

Dr. Michael Mario's work on prose is direct, timely, and highly reliable: while I knew working with someone who already had extensive experience publishing in academia would be great, I've been constantly impressed with the quality of Mike's edits and suggestions.

I understand the pressures and the joys of academic authorship because I am an academic author myself. In addition to working for a nationally recognized editing service, editing hundreds of scholarly essays and coaching dozens of colleagues through the academic publication process, I am the author of numerous journal articles, book chapters, book reviews, an encyclopedia article, and the Routledge book Masculinity in Contemporary Quality Television. When I am not editing or writing, you can find me rummaging through my record collection, killing it at karaoke, and winning lookalike contests with my dog Boodles.
Working in the media provides the opportunity to seek out, craft, and share engaging stories and narratives - information with an impact. As a professional storyteller, I strive to captivate, inform, and entertain with my published works.
